A Comparison of Pressure and Tilt Input Techniques for Cursor Control
نویسندگان
چکیده
SUMMARY Three experiments were conducted in this study to investigate the human ability to control pen pressure and pen tilt input, by coupling this control with cursor position, angle and scale. Comparisons between pen pressure input and pen tilt input have been made in the three experiments. Experimental results show that decreasing pressure input resulted in very poor performance and was not a good input technique for any of the three experiments. In " Experiment 1-Coupling to Cursor Position " , the tilt input technique performed relatively better than the increasing pressure input technique in terms of time, even though the tilt technique had a slightly higher error rate. In " Experiment 2-Coupling to Cursor Angle " , the tilt input performed a little better than the increasing pressure input in terms of time, but the gap between them is not so apparent as Experiment 1. In " Experiment 3-Coupling to Cursor Scale " , tilt input performed a little better than increasing pressure input in terms of adjustment time. Based on the results of our experiments, we have inferred several design implications and guidelines. key words: pressure input, tilt input, target selection tasks, pen-based interfaces

Input techniques that dynamically change their cursor activation area: A comparison of bubble and cell cursors
Efficient pointing is crucial to graphical user interfaces, and input techniques that dynamically change their activation area may yield improvements over point cursors by making objects selectable at a distance. Input techniques that dynamically change their activation area include the bubble cursor, whose activation area always contains the closest object, and two variants of cell cursors, wh...
متن کاملPosition vs. velocity control for tilt-based interaction
Research investigating factors in the design of tilt-based interfaces is presented. An experiment with 16 participants used a tablet and a 2D pointing task to compare position-control and velocitycontrol using device tilt to manipulate an on-screen cursor. Four selection modes were also evaluated, ranging from instantaneous selection upon hitting a target to a 500-ms time delay prior to selecti...

Introduction: In order to control Hypertension, it is necessary to understand the methods of blood pressure measurement. Recent guidelines emphasize on employing appropriate blood pressure measurement techniques and white coat hypertension. متن کاملDI AGNOSTIC VAL UE OF SUBL INGUAL NITROGLYCERIN TILT TEST: COMPARISON WITH THE STANDARD ISOPROTERENOL TILT TEST
Sublingual nitroglycerin (TNG) has been introduced as a promising provocative agent for tilt table testing, but it has not been compared directly with the standard isoproterenol (ISO) infusion test previously. We tried to assess the diagnostic value and safety of TNG tilt testing as compared with ISO infusion in patients with unexplained syncope. TNG and ISO tilt tests were performed in tw...
متن کاملPicking and Snapping for 3D Input Devices
A picking mechanism (pointing and indicating) with the cursor is essential for any direct-manipulation application. The windowing systems, under which control a direct-manipulation application runs, provide facilities that together with special utility routines allow identifying which object within the region the user is pointing at. Such picking algorithms have been widely used for selecting o...
